Souq al-Horreya charity event to feature local crafts, benefit children

The Souq al-Horreya charity event will host 25 orphanages and charity organization including Dar El Orman, Resala, Khayrazad, and the Egyptian Food Bank Saturday in Designopolis on the Cairo-Alexandria Road.

The event, organized by SODIC, will feature locally-made crafts such as accessories made by Stable Antar and other goods by Akhmim and Siwa Creation from 11 am to 5 pm. 

All organization will have booths to help collect money, clothes, toy, or book donations and also to offer information on volunteer work.

Entertainment will also include a live mural painting by Spanish artist Juan Carlos Noria. Several renowned Egyptian bands will play for the crowd, among which will be Cairokee with their "Souq al-Horreya" hit, Aziz El Shafei and Wust Al-Balad.

The event is a chance for vendors to show off products to a wide range of consumers and introduce them to local brands.

For those eligible to donate blood, Qasr al-Aini Hospital will also hold a blood drive from 12 pm until 3 pm.
