The Salafi Nour Party issued a statement on Facebook today calling on demonstrators to stage peaceful protests away from embassies.
The statement comes against the backdrop of clashes between security forces and demonstrators who were protesting outside the US Embassy in Cairo against a film they say disparages Prophet Mohamed.
The party expressed deep regret for the clashes, but persisted in demanding prosecution of the producers of the film.
Violent demonstrations have erupted in several Arab capitals against the film. Such demonstrations resulting in the death of four employees of the US Consulate in Libya, including the ambassador, who were killed when armed demonstrators stormed the consulate in Benghazi.
