Tarek Fahim, secretary of the administrative office of the Nour Party in Alexandria, predicted that party’s ongoing internal crisis would end soon.
He said that a committee was formed which included Sheikh Sherif Hawari, Saeed al-Sawah and Saeed Hamad, and it is expected to meet with embattled party head Emad Abdel Ghafour.
Fahim also said that about 2,000 party members in Alexandria have taken tests to be promoted “active members” in order to participate more fully in party activities.
Regarding the party’s parliamentary election candidates, Fahim said that they will be held to the same party standards as presidential candidates, and that potential candidates would have to be tested.
Fahim added that the party's candidates will be chosen mainly for technocratic skills, and that candidates from outside the party could be chosen provided their ideas are compatible with Salafi ideology.
However, he also added that the party still lacks women who are involved in party work.
