Morsy supporters, police clash on Friday

Hundreds of supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsy staged marches in Alexandria and clashed with security in Giza, responding to a call by Morsy's largest political support alliance for fresh protests against the ruling regime.
 
In Alexandria, protesters marched through the streets of Raml, Borg al-Arab and el-Teraa neighborhoods, holding posters of the former president and other banners voicing support for Palestinians in Gaza against the Israeli military offensive.
 
Demonstrators chanted against army and police forces. Others spoke out against the recent price hikes as a result of the government’s decision to partially lift energy subsidies.
 
In Giza, Morsy supporters clashed with police in the Mohandessin neighborhood.
 
They burned tires and hurled fire bottles and stones at security forces, who responded with tear gas. 
 
Some protesters chanted against Israel and burned the Israeli and American flags.
 
Police chased and arrested a number of protesters.
 
Meanwhile, MENA reported that police arrested six protesters in Fayoum following clashes that broke out after Friday prayers.

 
The Muslim Brotherhood-led National Alliance to Support Legitimacy has urged supporters to begin fresh protests Friday against the current government over its recent economic reforms that caused prices to rise.
