Cairo International Airport authorities begin a collaboritive investigation with members of the departments of Passports and Public Relations as well as security personnel at the airport after Mohamed Abdel Aaty, brother of toppled President Mohamed Morsy's secretary, escaped.
Abdel Aaty was nearly arrested while finalizing his traveling procedures to Abu Dhabi late on Saturday evening, but he managed to escape.
Abdel Aaty headed to Cairo Airport accompanied by his son. The public relations employee received his luggage and passport as normal. After checking his data, Abdel Aaty's name was found on the travel ban list.
The security headed to the hall where Abdel Aaty was waiting but only found his son. The security asked the 18-year-old son about his father, and he said that Abdel Aaty was in the restroom.
After 15 minutes, the security realized that Abdel Aaty had escaped arrest. The son was arrested and Abdel Aaty's belongings were seized.
The police officers at the Passport Department accused the public relations employee and other security personnel of warning Abdel Aaty before he was arrested, allowing him to escape.
Both denied they were responsible for the incident.
