Minister of Education Ahmed Zaki Badr announced on Sunday that an experimental exam for Thanaweyya Amma (secondary school) students will be held which will follow the final exam criteria specified by the National Council for Examinations.
In related news, the Ministry of Education has published exam instructions on its website which advise girls to wear their school uniforms during exams "to make it easier to recognize them." Official sources at the ministry said the measure seeks to to indirectly discourage girls from wearing the niqab to avoid lawsuits filed by niqab-wearers.
Meanwhile, Magdi Qassem, president of the Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Education, said the door was open for teachers to enrol for free in internet-based education quality training courses after a report revealed that 67 percent of schools have failed to obtain the relevant accreditation.
