The Electricity and Renewable Energy Ministry will conclude its annual maintenance work on power stations before the start of the summer season, by the end of April, said Electricity Ministry spokesperson Mohamed al-Yamany on Tuesday.
Yamany added that Siemens Company will be conducting maintenance on al-Nubariya, Talkha and al-Koraymat power stations.
The Electricity Ministry will carry out maintenance work on power stations that produce electricity with a total 36,725 megawatts, said Yamany.
Yamany pointing out that the ministry relies on raising the efficiency of existing power plants by sticking to the instructions of manufacturers in terms of operation and maintenance. The ministry also carries out a feasibility study to rehabilitate stations of low efficiency to decide whether they should be replaced by new stations, he added.
The ministry will continue to convert simple cycle power plants to combined cycle power plants, which save about a third of the used fuel, Yamany mentioned.
