Leaders of the Gamaa Islamiya and the Salafi Nour Party urged the Muslim Brotherhood to revise its ideology and focus on political action away from violence, stressing that demonstrations have lost cause and that reconciliation with the “honorable” from the regime is the way to end differences and restore security and stability.
Aboud al-Zumor, member of the Gamaa Islamiya Shura Council, appealed to the Muslim Brotherhood to form a committee to evaluate its experience in government, determine the mistakes made by Mohamed Morsy that led to his downfall and find ways to return to political action again. “They need advice now, but they do not listen,” he said.
“They need to restructure themselves or they will collapse,” he added. “And the only way for them to return to the political arena is through the upcoming parliamentary elections and through legitimate opposition.”
Yasser al-Borhamy, vice president of the Salafi Daawah, said the Brotherhood leaders plant destructive ideas in the minds of the youth and push them to commit acts of violence.
Tarek al-Sahry, chairman of the Nour Party High Committee, called on the authorities to release the group's members who were involved in acts of violence and rejected security strategies to end political differences.
