Court to consider claim demanding recovery of Nefertiti statue from Germany on Thursday

The Administrative Court will consider on Thursday the lawsuit requiring the Egyptian government to restore the famous statue of Nefertiti from Germany. The statue was stolen by the German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt, head of the German mission, about 103 years ago.

The lawsuit was filed by lawyer Nabil Fazee. It referred to Article 49 of the 2014 Constitution, which affirms the state's commitment to the protection of monuments, as well as their maintenance, restoration, and recovery.
