Abu Ismail attacks Moussa, Shafiq, denies support of Morsy

Disqualified presidential hopeful Hazem Salah Abu Ismail warned Egyptian expatriates of voting for Amr Moussa or Ahmed Shafiq and denied rumors that he might support Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsy Friday.

In a statement, he said the country would suffer if former regime officials won the presidential elections.

"Both of them were ministers who attended the cabinet weekly meetings for long years, while the backs of Egyptians were being cut with whips in prisons," he said, refering to Shafiq and Moussa. “How can you elect someone who defended Mubarak’s regime?”

He also said that neither Shafiq nor Moussa know anything about health, education, or social affairs.

Egyptians should elect someone who can serve both religion and the homeland, he said, not someone who would exact revenge on the revolution on behalf of the former regime.

Abu Ismail also denied statements on the Facebook page of "We are Young Brothers Campaign," which listed him as one of the figures backing Mohamed Morsy for president.

"The Young Brothers are lying," he said.

He attacked the leaders of both the Freedom and Justice Party and Nour Party, saying that the Islamic leaders kept silent and defend detainees from the recent Abbasseya clashes.
