Confusion reigned at the meeting of Supreme Council of Universities’ (SCU) on Sunday after the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) froze the cabinet’s decision to remove university heads from their posts as of the start of August.
Meanwhile, a number of Ain Shams University staff and students protested on Sunday to demand the heads of universities be removed.
An SCU official source said that a number of university heads had suggested a mass resignation as a preemptive step to save face prior to the SCAF’s decision. However, several university heads opposed the suggestion, saying they still had work to do, including the exam results from the second term.
