Ain Shams University is holding an event on Tuesday 6 April to conclude the university’s year-long program entitled "For a Better Egypt". The program was organized by the university’s students union under the auspices of Ain Shams University President Maged el-Deeb.
The ceremony, which starts at 1PM, will include a concert by Egyptian pop singer Mohamed Hamaqi and music by DJ Walid el-Hariry, as well as many other activities.
Atef el-Awwam, the university’s vice president for education and student affairs, said the timing of the ceremony is intended to coincide with the 6 April strike, in order to present a "positive example" to the youth instead of what he described as "negative" calls for strikes and sit-ins.
El-Awwam said the one-year program also included surveys of student opinions on what they expect from their faculties, university and country.
The university held a similar concert at the same time last year.
