The Libyan WAL news agency said that the Coast Guard had stopped an Egyptian fishing boat west of the city of Sirte on Tuesday, detaining 16 fishermen for illegally entering the country's territorial waters.
The agency quoted a military official as saying that the situation was handled in accordance with the international law, and that the guards fired warning shots and told the fishermen via megaphones to comply with their orders.
The source added that the boat crew had tried to collide with the Coast Guard before it was escorted to the port of Misrata.
