Weapons, explosives seized in a former police officer’s apartment in Port Said

Responding to a complaint about tear gas coming out of an apartment in Port Said’s Golf neighborhood, the police found and seized weapons and explosives in the apartment that belongs to Mohamed Mahmoud Tawfik, a police officer on pension.

The seizures included jerry cans containing explosive materials, an automatic rifle and a pistol.

The former officer, his wife and his two sons, who are suspected to have detonated IEDs a few days ago, were all arrested. He said the explosives belonged to his sons and not to him.

Meanwhile in Gharbiya, security services defused an IED that was placed outside the Misr Bank branch on 23 July Street in Bassiun.
