A year ago, documentary film director Mohamed Salah closely followed the “COP27” climate change conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, which inspired him to produce a documentary film aimed at educating the entire world about the existential threat climate change poses to humanity.
The film involved holding dialogues with world ambassadors in Egypt and aims to present a multilingual message to protect the planet.
Salah’s idea was presented to the CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Ahmed Ghoneim, who welcomed it and helped bring the project to light.
It was produced under the title “Ambassadors of Civilization in Dialogue to Protect Our Human Civilization”, with a teaser recently shown at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Al-Masry Al-Youm contacted Salah, who has been directing for about 20 years, to talk about his latest documentary.
“After I presented the idea to Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim. He welcomed it and helped me with all he could to film at the museum. He contacted ambassadors from friendly countries, and in turn, they were enthusiastic about participating in the work,” Salah explained.
He added that he hosted 12 prominent ambassadors including from the UN, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain, the EU, Japan, Mexico and the director of the World Health Organization’s Office in Egypt, in addition to Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass.
According to Salah, the film runs at 45 minutes and follows the development of human civilization in Egypt across various eras of its history.
The film reviews the achievements made throughout history, and how different civilizations have influenced each other and exchanged knowledge. Through his unique lens, Salah highlights the threat of climate change and its impact on the environment and humanity.
Its overall aim is to discuss how to protect human civilization from the challenges it faces in the current era.
“Hosting the ambassadors of countries and scholars in the film gave the audience an opportunity to learn and reflect on the importance of international cooperation and protecting human civilization to build a better future for the next generations,” Salah explained.
“I look forward to showing the film at the COP28 in the UAE. Because it is a global gathering, I would like to send a multilingual message through it from Egypt to embrace the dialogue of civilizations in order to protect our planet,” he concluded.
