Cairo Governor Galal Mostafa Saeed said Wednesday that Mugamma al-Tahrir, which includes dozens of ministry-affiliated service departments and is located in downtown Cairo, will be transferred to another area by mid-2017 to alleviate traffic in the downtown area.
Mugamma includes roughly 30,000 employees and receives 100,000 citizens a day during morning hours, which causes congested traffic in Midan al-Tahrir.
Transferring several departments will require over a year of work, Saeed said, denying that required transfer measures could be concluded in 2016 as circulated by the media.
