Thousands of Copts staged a demonstration Saturday to condemn the attack on a church in Aswan Governorate in southern Egypt, which took place following clashes between Coptic and Muslim villagers.
Copts Without Restrictions, the Maspiro Youth Union, and Free Copts have called for a demonstration Saturday evening to condemn the incident and request the formation of a fact-finding committee to examine the damage and compensate those affected.
The Coptic movements also demanded the dismissal of Aswan's governor and to rebuild damaged parts of the church.
Sectarian clashes erupted Friday between Muslims and Copts in the village of Marinab, close to the town of Edfu, following Copts' restoration of Saint George's Church, according to official sources.
