Tax Authority employees who are rejecting the Civil Service law have requested the dismissal of Finance Minister Hany Qadry Demian and Planning Minister Ashraf al-Araby for failing to resolve their problem with the law.
Tarek Koeib, a member of the Solidarity Movement that includes more than 30 trade unions demanding the abolition of the law, said the problem was about to be resolved. Former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb had agreed to negotiate, but the cabinet reshuffle took place and all efforts were stopped. “We will wait for the new Cabinet before we decide on the next steps,” he said.
Tarek al-Kashif, a leader of the labor movement, said the tax employees are meeting in Alexandria to decide whether they will continue protesting with Solidarity or on their own.
