Tamarod Movement Spokesperson Mohamed al-Nabawi said Defense Minister Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi does not politically compliment the movement.
In a talk show aired on the privately-owned TV channel MBC Masr, Nabawi said on Wednesday, “We refuse deification of any candidate running for presidential elections either Sisi or anyone else.”
Nabawi added that General Sami Anan, former military chief of staff, was “the engineer of a deal to bring Mohamed Morsy [former president] to presidential palace, even in case Ahmed Shafiq [former presidential hopeful] won the elections.”
He also added that whoever boycotted the referendum is undoubtedly a supporter of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, while whoever cast his ballot is a supporter of revolution as well as the correct path for Egypt.
Meanwhile, Khaled al-Adawy, coordinator of Be My President campaign, which supports nomination of Anan to presidency, said that a conference to launch campaign supporting Anan nomination was put off until next week. He added that Anan made his decision to run to president.
Adawy said that he left the Complete Your Favor campaign, which supports Sisi, after he experienced deification of him by his fans. He expressed rejection toward this method for any candidate.
Adawy said that Anan should not be criticized for performing the military salute to Morsy as Sisi did the same when he was in the position. He stressed that Anan is the only one able to compete against Sisi.
