Local and imported wheat stocks should last for more than the next six months based on estimated monthly consumption, Supply and Social Affairs Minister Abu Zeid Mohamed Abu Zeid said Wednesday.
The minister said that he received a report by the head of the General Authority for Supply Commodities on the strategic reserves of local and imported wheat in the country.
The latest reports from supply directorates around the country, the minister added, indicate that all un-mechanized bakeries have enough flour for two days, in addition to a third day supply in mills, while the amount of flour in both the bakeries and mills together would last five days in remote governorates.
Bakeries are absolutely secure, Abu Zeid assured.
