Strong Egypt Party spokesperson Ahmed Imam denied in a press statement on Friday that the Nour Party advised Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh not to run for president.
“The remarks of Nour Party Assistant Secretary Shaaban Abdel Alim to that effect are not true,” he said, adding that his party did not meet with the Nour Party recently. “The decision not to run in the elections was purely internal.”
“They should advise themselves and stop claim artificial glories,” he said.
He also said that claims by the Nour Party that the votes Aboul Fotouh got in the first round of the last elections were mostly from the Nour Party are also not true. “Actually, he lost because that party said at the time that it was supporting him,” he noted.
