Supply and Internal Trade Minister Khaled Hanafy said the strategic reserves of local and imported wheat are sufficient until January 2016.
In a statement on Friday, Hanafy said the ministry imports wheat through world stock markets from several countries, such as Russia, Romania, Canada, France, Argentina, USA, Ukraine and others, choosing the highest quality and the lowest price.
“The wheat is inspected by international technical committees at ports of exit and local committees at ports of entry” he said.
The first shipment in this fiscal budget is scheduled to arrive in August. It comprises 60,000 tons from Romania, at a price of US$212.47 per ton.
