Stolen electric wires halts traffic on 1st line of metro

Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation Chief Ali al-Fadaly said a technical malfunction on the first line of the metro, caused by the illegal stripping of electric wires between Al-Malek Al-Saleh and Al-Sayyeda Zeinab stops, led to the melting of part of the rails.

Traffic between the two stops was halted, but is flowing regularly, and in both directions, between Al-Marg and Al-Sayyeda Zeinab stops and between Helwan and Dar al-Salam stops.

The rails are being replaced and traffic will return to normal soon, Fadaly added.
