President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is 25th in a list of 50 nominees declared late Wednesday by US Time magazine for its Person of the Year poll.
Time said on its website that readers would vote for the most influential personality either in positive or negative terms.
The poll closes on 6 December, with the readers’ selection slated for 8 December, Time said, noting that the editors’ choice will be declared on 10 December.
Russian President Vladimir Putin tops the list of nominees, followed by Pakistani activist and Nobel Prize winner Malala Yusafzai.
US President Barack Obama came 13th, while Islamic State militant group leader, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdady, came 15th.
Earlier this month, Sisi was chosen as Africa’s most influential leader by Forbes Middle East, which ranked the Egyptian president 51th in its annual list of the world’s most outstanding figures.
