Abdel Rahman Aly, a senior official of the leftist Tagammu Party, submitted his resignation on Tuesday from the party’s executive board, in protest against party leaders holding talks with the Muslim Brotherhood.
"I never thought our party leaders were so stupid to talk to the Brotherhood which only wants to climb on our backs to confront the regime," Aly said.
"We believe in freedom of expression and in a civil state, while they call for a theocracy with no place for women and Copts," he added. "We hardly have any common ground except that we both want to remove the current regime."
