Security forces in Sharqiya announced on Sunday the arrest of 13 Muslim Brotherhood members and extremists in a crackdown following the killing of six policemen in one week.
Sources at the Sharqiya Security Directorate said the crackdown targeted active members of the group, as well as extremists, in Hahya, Abu Kabir and Fakous.
Six policemen have been killed by the same methods in one week in Zagazig, Abu Kabir, Hahya and Kafr Saqr in Sharqiya. The killers have not been identified yet, according to the sources.
The security forces intensified their presence and set 20 checkpoints in different areas in Sharqiya following the incidents.
