Saudi prince cultivated only 1% of his Toshka Project land

Ibrahim al-Agami, executive director for the General Authority for Reconstruction Projects and Agricultural Development, an affiliate of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that Prince al-Waleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia cultivated only a small part of the land belonging to him at the Toshka Project in the South Nile valley.

In a press statement on Saturday, al-Agami said al-Waleed didn't keep his promise to increase investments at Toshka, reclaiming only 1000 feddans out of 100,000. Total land allocated for the Toshka project is estimated at 450,000 feddans.

Opposition in Egypt called on the government to retrieve all the land at the Toshka Project owned by al-Waleed, claiming that it was given to him by the government and not attained through bids.

The government is facing similar issues regarding the Madinaty land issue. Administrative court has nullified the Talaat Mostafa Group (TMG) sales contract, but last week the government announced that it will resell around 8000 feddans of the Madinaty project land to TMG.
