The Supreme Administrative Court has issued seven rulings to stop parliamentary election run-offs in Matareyya, Cairo, where NDP candidate Mohamed Sayyed Abdel Fattah will compete today against Wafd Party’s Atef Hassan al-Ashmouni for the district's professional seat.
The court also ordered to nullify Matareyya’s race for the workers seat, scheduled to take place between NDP candidate Abdel Fattah Mohamed Abbas Mentawi and independent Khaled Mahmoud Selim.
Court rulings to freeze elections typically follow disclosures of violations, but, in many cases, the polls proceed uninhibited.
