Khaled Othman, the Egyptian expat who was assaulted in Jordan last week by Jordanian MP Zaid Shawabkeh, on Thursday signed in Aqaba a reconciliation agreement with Shawabkeh’s family that contained a written apology by the MP, his brothers and his whole clan for assaulting him.
According to the agreement, the family will also publish an apology in three Jordanian daily newspapers on Saturday to Othman, all Egyptians living in Jordan and to the Egyptian people so as to emphasize the depth of relations between the peoples of the two countries.
A representative of the Shawabkeh family apologized to Othman in front of the Egyptian Consul, senior sheikhs and dignitaries of the Jordanian tribes.
