Nubian leaders have formed a delegation to meet Prime Minister Essam Sharaf after he requested the meeting to discuss their demands.
Sharaf's invitation comes after Nubians criticized the government for offering them Toshka land without consulting them about their needs. Many members of the community have said they want to settle on the banks of Lake Nasser.
The meeting is expected to be held within days, according to Nubian author Haggag Adoal.
"We selected loyal Nubians who love their country. We hope that Dr. Essam Sharaf does not meet those who represented us under the former regime because they do not represent us anymore," Haggag said. "Our first demand is dismissing the governor of Aswan because he raises sedition between Nubians and the rest of the Egyptian people with his provocative statements."
