Naira Ashraf’s family demands execution of killer be aired on TV

The lawyer for murdered Mansoura University student, Naira Ashraf, announced that her family had requested that the murderer’s execution be aired on satellite channels to make an example out of him.

Lawyer Khaled Abdel Rahman submitted a request to authorities to allow satellite channels to publicly broadcast the execution of the murderer, Mohamed Adel.

Adel attacked Ashraf using a bladed weapon in front of the university gate in Daqahliya Governorate.

The crime occurred, on June 20, 2022 after the victim turned down his marriage request.

The Public Prosecutor referred, on June 22, Adel to the Criminal Court, over premeditated murder. The referral decision came 48 hours after the incident.

The Court of Cassation in February 2023 rejected the appeal of the murderer, upholding Mansoura Criminal Court’s verdict in July 2022, sentencing Adel to death punishment by hanging.

LE10 million in compensation

Naira Ashraf’s lawyer also filed a compensation claim of LE10 million back in February against the accused, Mohamed Adel.

“We filed a lawsuit in the Belqas Court for compensation of LE10 million, and we requested obliging the accused to pay the expenses and attorney’s fees”.

“One of the reasons is that Mohamed Adel’s mother continues to mock and abuse Naira and her family,” Abdel Rahman said.

Abdel Rahman confirmed that in case the court orders a compensation be paid to Ashraf’s family by Adel and his family and they are unable to pay, imprisonment will be applied to them.
