Muslim Brotherhood organizes to support Morsy

Sources within the Muslim Brotherhood say the group has drafted a plan to be carried out nationwide that would support President Mohamed Morsy, and specifically his decision to reinstate the People’s Assembly.

The plan includes a number of guidelines for Brotherhood administrative offices to follow when working with citizens. The first is for the Freedom and Justice Party to hold conferences for citizens and to discuss with them the circumstances behind the dissolution and subsequent reinstatement of Parliament.

Local Brotherhood offices should also work with MPs to coordinate the receipt of people’s complaints and to monitor their problems.

Most importantly, the plan calls on the Brotherhood offices to conduct surveys among citizens regarding Morsy’s performance and to send them both to Morsy and to the Brotherhood’s Guidance Bureau.

Medhat al-Haddad, head of the Muslim Brotherhood office in Alexandria, said that demonstrations had been organized to celebrate the return of Parliament. He added that the Brotherhood in Alexandria coordinated with 26 political parties and movements to create a popular front to support Morsy and to respond to media distortion of the president’s decisions.

The head of the Brotherhood office in Beni Suef, Mohamed Abdullah Sayyaf, said that the group is working with Salafis and other conservative Islamists movements and leftist groups such as the April 6 Youth Movement to organize demonstrations in support of Morsy.

Sayyaf added that the Muslim Brotherhood supports the president’s decisions and has conducted negotiations with other political forces and the campaigns of former presidential candidates to join forces against the “fierce campaign” against the Brotherhood, the FJP and the revolution.
