Head of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Committee in the House of Representatives, Noura Ali, called on the Higher Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis to issue a decision allowing tourists and visitors who have received the coronavirus vaccine to enter Egypt without being subject to any quarantine procedures.
Ali added that the decision would be applied on anyone coming from abroad, as long as they carry proof of their vaccination.
Ali stressed that the implementation of this decision will have a strong positive impact on the country’s ailing tourism sector.
Beginning September 1, all local and foreign passengers were demanded to provide a PCR analysis document proving they tested negative for coronavirus within 72 hours of reaching Egyptian territory.
Egypt’s tourism sector, accounting for approximately 12 percent of the country’s GDP, has experienced a slump in tourism since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The country’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Aviation, has launched several campaigns to revive the industry.
