Mohamed al-Damaty, leading member of Mohamed Morsy's defense team, has made steps to visit the former president in Borg al-Arab prison near Alexandria, adding that it is essential to their case in the Ettehadiya incitment trial.
The desense will try to convince Morsy to accept lawyer Salim al-Awa, or other representation, during the court's next session, so as to prevent the court from assigning another lawyer to represent him.
Damaty said on Wednesday that the rules of criminal trials require the presence of a lawyer with any defendant to represent them.
He explained that a meeting with Morsy during the court's session break was not succifient to discuss the details of the case, hence why a meeting in prison would be essential to discussing the defense's strategy for the future.
