Shaimaa, daughter of deposed President Mohamed Morsy, on Monday wrote on Facebook that her father rejected an offer from Former Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and other leaders of the army for him to travel anywhere abroad and receive money and privileges in exchange of his resignation.
“He rejected the offer because he knew it would be a betrayal to God and the country,” she added.
She also wrote that Morsy and his men are not traitors who sold their land and honor for money, they sacrificed themselves for freedom, pride and dignity and gave generations lessons in how to be real men.
Shaimaa was responding to Sisi's interview that was jointly broadcast on Al-Hayat, Al-Nahar and Dream satellite channels on Sunday evening, in which he said that Morsy was talking to his own supporters in his 26 June speech, not to the whole nation, in order to find a way out of the political problem at the time.
In response to a question as to whether the leaders of the army who attended Morsy’s speech could have been targeted, Sisi said they were secured on that day.
“How could Morsy possibly target the army leaders if he gets scared of the sound of a plane,” he said.
