Military prosecution revokes prison sentences for 13 Sinai residents

Prison sentences for 13 Sinai residents have been revoked by the military prosecution in North Sinai.

The sentences ranged between seven and 25 years.

Sheikh Eid Abu Sengar, the head of the Arab tribes’ delegation in Arish, said the decision came after the defense minister promised to cancel all military rulings issued in absentia during a recent meeting held at the Armed Forces’ Al-Galaa stage.

There are still prison sentences for five Sinai residences that have not yet been cancelled, but a meeting will be held to consider revoking those as well, Sengar said.

Informed military sources said the general command was intent on cancelling several military rulings that have been issued against Sinai residents over the past year. The second army commander is currently considering the cases of the remaining citizens who are still facing prison time.
