Military prosecution questions suspects accused of assaulting police

Egypt's military prosecution on Thursday began investigating three people accused of attacking police in Cairo’s Shubra district.

Public prosecutors launched the investigations on Wednesday but later referred the case to the military.

The military prosecution accused three street vendors, who possessed a variety of weapons, of thuggery. The men had assaulted three police officers while on patrol to arrest criminals.

The prosecution mentioned that one of the policemen was severely injured while the others sustained minor injuries.

The suspects, according to the prosecution, attacked the policemen with melee weapons and damaged three stores.
