Egypt's military rulers addressed the Egyptian people on their Facebook page Monday, urging them to participate in the presidential election on Wednesday and Thursday, saying that it is “honestly and fairly” impartial toward all candidates.
The election is taking place in the context of continued efforts to build state institutions, the statement said.
The military council asserted “the utmost need for Egyptians’ participation in the election of their next president, who will hopefully guide the country to the horizons of progress and stability.”
The statement stressed the importance of accepting the results of the election as the free choice of the Egyptian people, saying that the democratic process is taking its first step.
The council concluded its message saying that the world watches the events in Egypt closely, demanding that the Egyptian people set an example now as they have throughout human history.
