Sales of local steel, aluminum and copper products have increased on the market despite the problem of rising global prices for raw goods.
Steel producers said cheaper imports will force them to reduce their prices in order to hit their sales targets. “We have already sold all of our May production of 270,000 tons,” said George Matta, marketing manager of Ezz Steel.
However, steel producer Ahmed Abu Hashima said sales have been affected by the 120,000 tons of steel imported last month.
Fouad Shahin, commercial manager of the Egyptian Copper Company suggested that aluminum and copper product sales are expected to increase again next month.
