Four women died in clashes in Mansoura that erupted between supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy and unknown attacks Friday. Dozens were also injured in the violence on the city's Teraa Street.
The victims have been named as 38-year old Islam Abdel Ghany, Hala Mohamed Abu Sheishaa, aged 17, and another unknown woman, a medical source said.
A fourth woman, Feryal Ismail Ali Gabr, is in critical condition, the source added.
Relatives of the deceased called for the perpetrators to be arrested and held accountable after visiting Mansoura Public Hospital.
They also accused security forces of hiring thugs to kill the women during a peaceful protest.
On Friday a march by Morsy’s supporters started outside Mansoura's Agriculture Directorate building, passing through Teraa Street before reaching Geish and Abdel Salam Aref streets.
Thugs reportedly fired shots at protesters before attacking them with bladed weapons and sticks.
Protesters were forced to end the march as violence broke out.
The Women Against the Coup Movement called for a press conference at Cairo's Rabea al-Adaweya mosque Saturday to issue a statement on how the four women died.
The Freedom and Justice Party had earlier announced the murder of the four women following a million-man march on Friday. Officials said the victims were killed by thugs from the disbanded National Democratic Party with help from security forces.
