The Islamist Coalition, which includes the Salafi-led Nour and Asala parties and the Jama'a al-Islamiya’s Construction and Development Party, announced is fielding 693 candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“We will win at least 30 percent of the seats,” said Nader Bakar, Nour Party spokesperson, claiming that the coalition is mobilizing the largest number of voters. “And we have a great number of supporters from the Salafi movement.”
Bakar also said the party is fielding 60 female candidates in the elections. “We believe in the role of women in society,” he said.
