Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting on Saturday 28/2/2026 to follow up on efforts to secure bone and joint supplies in government hospitals, aiming to speed up eliminating waiting lists for joint replacement surgeries and reduce patient suffering.
Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar stated that the minister emphasized the importance of close coordination with the Unified Procurement Authority and suppliers to ensure regular deliveries and prevent shortages of knee and hip joints, which are essential for quality medical service.
The Minister also ordered the creation of a unified work protocol to organize surgical priorities based on objective medical criteria, ensuring fair distribution of services and providing urgent surgical intervention to the most critical cases first to enhance health system efficiency.
