Former VP Omar Suleiman to testify in Mubarak trial

Former Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman arrived in court on Tuesday to testify in the trial of ousted President Hosni Mubarak, who is charged with involvement in the killing of protesters during the revolution.

Suleiman, who was chief of the General Intelligence Services for 20 years under Mubarak's rule, was appointed vice president on 29 January in response to protests calling for Mubarak’s resignation. Suleiman then disappeared from the political scene after Mubarak resigned on 11 February.

The trial is being held at the Police Academy, located in Fifth Settlement, New Cairo.
