FM debriefs Mubarak in wake of Gulf tour

Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit debriefed President Hosni Mubarak Wednesday on his recently-concluded tour of the Gulf, which included stops in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki, Abul Gheit delivered personal messages from Mubarak to the leaders of theses countries, in which Mubarak reiterated Egypt’s support for the latter in the face of foreign "interference."

Zaki said that Abul Gheit had discussed a host of regional issues with his hosts–including the Iranian nuclear file and the ongoing conflict in Yemen–and signed 14 cooperation agreements with these countries in a number of different fields.

During his tour, Abul Gheit also followed up on the situation of Egyptian expatriates working in the Gulf, added Zaki, in light of the recent Dubai debt crisis.
