Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism notches up conspicuous success at Arabian Travel Market 2023

In an effort to cement its place as one of the world’s leading travel destinations, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) held the 30th Arabian Travel Market (ATM) from May 1- 4 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

The DET brought more than 122 public and private sector establishments together, bringing about fruitful business opportunities as well as bright future prospects for the country’s tourism sector.

Adopting the ‘Working towards Net Zero’ theme, this year’s ATM shed light on responsible tourism – which goes in parallel with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability.

The four-day event highlighted how the city’s tourism industry enormously contributes to the strategic UAE Net Zero 2050 initiative, in accordance with the vision of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai.

Sustainability as top priority

The ATM’s sustainability theme also involved the discussions for arranging the monumental UN Climate Change conference COP28, set to be held later this year in the UAE.

The ATM also addressed Dubai’s distinguished multi-pronged blueprint for sustainable development, conforming with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The DET was awarded the ‘Best Stand for Doing Business’ Award for its magnificent three-story exhibition space at ATM 2023 as a tribute to its accomplishment. The ATM judges granted DET the award due to its comfortable seats, large layout, and outstanding hospitality as part of its bid to deliver an engaging experience for tourists.

Bringing in the buyers

The DET also hosted the largest ATM Hosted Buyers Program, accentuating Dubai’s unrivaled hospitality and broad offers.

In a first, this year’s programme lured 450 buyers from 31 different markets and countries.

Rida Tours, Knight Tours, Arabian Oryx, and Arabian Adventures were among the DMCs that endorsed the Hosted Buyers Program to guarantee a valuable experience for the hosted buyers in Dubai, offering an unforgettable city tour, including the Museum of the Future, Burj al-Arab, and Sonara Desert Camp.

Furthermore, ATM visitors got the chance to participate in an interactive game for tourists, known as the Dubai Landmark, which displays the city’s distinct destination approach.

Dubai’s tourism sector has recently witnessed an upsurge in Q1 2023, making it the world’s fastest recovering destination. It attracted 4.67 million international overnight visitors from January to March, in comparison to 3.97 million tourists during the same period in 2022.
