Cairo Court for Urgent Matters will consider on Saturday an appeal filed by the Syndicate of Pharmacists against imposing judicial guardianship on the syndicate.
The court set 23 September to consider the appeal, but the defense asked to shorten the period between the two hearings making it on 14 July.
The syndicate said in a statement last Monday that the defense of the syndicate believes its position is strong, adding that the lawsuit was based on allegations and lies that are not supported by legal title or official document.
The General Assembly has recently renewed its confidence in the syndicate's council granting it the power to manage the syndicate's administrative and financial affairs, the statement said.
Syndicate deputy Mohamed Saudi denied financial deviations by the council saying no legal documents proved the council squandered public money. Saudi considered the case a struggle for chairs and positions, and an attempt to create political tensions in the syndicate.
Secretary General of the Pharmacists Syndicate Abdallah Zein al-Abedeen said the Constitution prohibits the imposition of guardianship on syndicates, adding the Court of Cassation, the highest judicial authority in Egypt, has recognized the illegality of placing syndicates under guardianship.
