The State Council Administrative Court on Tuesday changed the dates for the lawsuits appealing the dissolution of Parliament and the Constituent Assembly formation to 9 July and 4 September, respectively.
Earlier Tuesday, the court set 7 July for ruling on lawsuits against the dissolution of Parliament and 1 September to rule on lawsuits regarding the Constituent Assembly.
The court said that the dates were changed due to the judicial holidays.
The lawyers who had challenged the Constituent Assembly based their appeal on the fact that members of it are also members of the Shura Council, claiming that they represent political parties, which violates the law.
They said that the assembly members were chosen in a random manner unprecedented in the history of Egypt and that it was dominated by Islamists. They added that the law that immunizes the assembly was not ratified by the military council, which invalidates its formation.
