Coptic thinker Rafiq Habib, co-founder of the Muslim brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, said the group’s leaders nominated him for party vice-president.
Brotherhood Shura Council member Sayyed Nazily said the group delegated the party leaders to choose a vice-president from outside the group.
The group’s young members welcomed Habib’s nomination. “It’s a good choice,” said group member Ihab Abdel Meguid.
