Mansoura Misdemeanor Court sentenced on Thursday three students allegedly linked to the Muslim Brotherhood to five years in prison and fines of LE50,000 over charges of "rioting, violating the protest law and blocking traffic."
The students from the Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University were arrested in January after they had taken part in protests organized by the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, the political coalition leading protests against transitional authorities.
Other charges posed against the students include affiliation with a banned group, assaulting public property, possessing instigative leaflets and instigating the overthrow of the current regime.
