The Beni Suef University council held a meeting on Tuesday afternoon and agreed to fire Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, after he was sentenced to death by a Minya court, according to university president Amin Lotfy.
"University deans and vice-presidents attended the meeting during which a legal memorandum about Badie's situation was submittted," Lotfy told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Badie is standing trial over violence-related incidents that occured following the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy in July 2013.
Badie and 682 others were referred Monday to the grand mufti in order for him to give his opinion about sentencing them to death over charges of storming a police station in Minya and killing a policeman.
